Corporate Services offers a challenging and stimulating variety of work in both delivery and support teams. The function utilises the expertise of eight specialisms that collectively enable the operational day-to-day running of the business to ensure that Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) delivers its objectives and maintains compliance with the requirements of being part of a Department of State. We cover: Business Support; Comms, Media & Marketing; Infrastructure & Estate Management; Policy Profession; Sales & Disposals; Occupational Health, Safety & Environment; Quality Management; and Security
As a DE&S/SDA Business Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role across the Corporate Services function in ensuring the strategic direction of business management activities. The role requires leadership skills as well as the ability to engender positive behaviours that motivate and develop our people. We are looking for a Business Managers with experience of working in a role at senior or management level, within a large and highly complex organisation. The incumbent will have demonstrable knowledge and insight of business operations, having worked in a similar position and a good track record of successful and effective business operations within a large business. You will work in collaboration with key business stakeholders and lead from a wide range of geographical as well as functional areas of the business, requiring superb communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Supporting in the development of business strategy in line with overall DE&S organisational objectives
• Providing expert advice on a range of business subjects to senior managers in their area to support improvements and achievement of business objectives
• Implementing appropriate business planning, governance and assurance frameworks for the area
• Leading the secretariat business, managing all Parliamentary Ministerial and FOI business
• Managing a team which has responsibility for the strategic delivery of business support
• Developing and maintaining the CSG catalogue of services and driving customer service ethos into business services
• Managing the performance of functional team and developing members of the team to provide a quality business support serviceWhat you will be assessed against
