At the Submarine Delivery Agency, we are excited to be hiring for a new Software Assurance Engineer, to be based at our Bristol site.

As a dynamic and enthusiastic engineer, you will liaise with a number of different stakeholders, and have access to expertise from a variety of teams, enabling you to expand your own knowledge with on the job learning. You will build on your understanding of software and the part it plays in safety.

Utilising your awareness of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and how software is written to comply with them, you will provide advice and guidance on the delivery of projects and assurance of the supplies that they deliver.

Please note that due to the nature of the projects involved, this role requires applicants to be Sole UK Nationals. The requirements of the post will include travel within the UK.

Responsibilities

Working with a team and a number of suppliers, you will build your technical knowledge to be able to provide advice and guidance at various stages of projects.

You will manage software engineering technical requirements (definition, architecture, integration, contract assessment and change management).

You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of software system requirements, including in-service support.

You will determine quality management and software assurance approaches and ensure technical risks are understood and managed.

You will utilise your exceptional communication skills to offer all of the above services across multiple projects, ensuring that any solutions or recommendations offered are understood and appropriately executed.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
• L4 (or higher) qualification in an engineering subject or equivalent relevant experience
• Experience of the delivery of software on projects
• Have an awareness of the role that software plays in systems and how it can affect the Safety Integrity levels (SIL’s)

It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Military experience.
• Experience as a software assurance engineer in the defence industry.
