We are seeking Mechanical Maintenance Technicians to join our Rountine Maintenance Team located at our Manufacturing East Sites near Sarnia, ON.  The successful candidates will install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot stationary mechanical equipment and industrial machinery.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Execute maintenance job tasks in a safe, professional manner.
  • Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures.
  • Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts (often to within a fraction of a millimeter tolerance).
  • Align and test equipment and make any necessary adjustments (i.e.: pump alignment).
  • Perform predictive and operational maintenance using procedures such as vibration analysis, and repair or replace defective parts when necessary.
  • Service and repair hydraulic, pneumatic systems and controls.
  • Update and maintain equipment history.
  • Maintain inventory of replacement parts and critical spares.
  • Exercise troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques using appropriate operating and technical inputs.
  • Network with support services.
  • Willingness to rotate within work teams across Manufacturing East.
  • Contribute to the success of the Maintenance Services team by supporting the World Class Reliability Program (WCR) and the Maintenance Work Management System (MWM).
  • Attend and facilitate meetings, schedules and appointments as required.
  • Share achievements and business results.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Graduate of the Millwright Mechanical Technician (MTIM) or equivalent college program or holder of an Ontario College of Trades Certification for Industrial Mechanic Millwright.
  • Co-op experience will be considered an asset.
  • Recent relevant experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Sound mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge established in a maintenance setting.
  • Ability to comply with all Responsible Care policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ability to function with minimum supervision.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • Flexibility to work alternative work schedules in a 24-hour, 7 day/week operation.
  • Participate in scheduled and unscheduled shutdown and turnaround activities.
  • Capability to develop in-depth knowledge of site equipment and processes including the Maintenance Work Management System.
  • Ability to participate in the development and execution of multi-skilling.
  • Ability to obtain a solid working knowledge of SAP notification, orders, and P/PM scheduling activities both in searching and user-entered functional activities.
  • Candidates will be expected to achieve a Certificate of Qualification; it is required upon completion of internal/external Apprenticeship program (NOVA TIPS program/Government of Ontario C of Q).
  • A valid G Class driver’s license.

Additional Information:

  • Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation.
