ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

Strathmore is a nonprofit multi-disciplinary arts center outside Washington, DC with multiple venues, strong community partnerships and robust educational programming. Spotlighting world-class talent and serving as a launch pad for local artists, Strathmore presents nearly 400 accessible and affordable events and exhibitions each year in the Music Center, Mansion, on our 16-acre campus, at AMP, and throughout the community.

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT 

The Marketing Manager is a critical part of Strathmore’s Communications & Marketing team. The Manager works closely with the Director of Marketing to plan and manage dozens of marketing and promotional campaigns each month, taking primary responsibility for the execution of each multi-channel campaign. Major job responsibilities include managing schedules and timelines, preparing advertising assets, writing copy, ad trafficking, budget tracking, coordinating content for webpages and publication and supporting patron engagement.

Advertising & Marketing Management (40%)

  • Support Director of Marketing with strategy and implementation of marketing campaigns for performances and events in the Music Center, at AMP, in the Mansion, and throughout the community.
  • Coordinate with programming and artist management to confirm details of performances and events, gathering all the necessary information and artist materials as needed.
  • Oversee creation of show-specific flyers, posters, and other materials for events or institutional marketing purposes.
  • Research artists, events, and outreach opportunities to enhance marketing strategies and improve positioning.
  • Attend weekly marketing meetings and provide input into marketing and communications strategy, goals and objectives. Take action items from the meeting.
  • Work with Strathmore’s external ad agency to oversee creation and trafficking advertising assets such as radio and TV spots, digital and print ads, and more.
  • Coordinate and track promotional tickets.
  • Negotiate and manage cross-promotional or trade marketing opportunities with partners, peers, and influencers.
  • Track expenses, process invoices, and prepare artist settlements.

Content Coordination Support for Signature Programs (20%)

  • Coordinate with internal program champions to collect and synthesize information about events and initiatives such as exhibitions, panel discussions, auditions, and student showcases.
  • Liaise with program managers regularly to understand program goals, coordinate programming deadlines and requirements, and develop copy and content around events.
  • Work with colleagues to develop marketing plans for events, series, and programs.
  • Oversee the development of web pages, ticketing set up, and patron communication to ensure clarity, effectiveness, and accuracy.

Website & Email Marketing (20%)

  • Manage the major landing pages with performance and event highlights on Strathmore.org as dictated by marketing objectives.
  • Write content for various Strathmore email blasts and web pages.
  • Populate, edit, or review web pages and emails regularly to ensure accuracy, clarity, and marketing effectiveness. Make changes as needed.
  • Participate in presale and on-sale testing and coordination.
  • Drive content calendar and scheduling for Strathmore’s targeted email marketing campaigns and bi-weekly enews.

 

Administration/Collaboration/Community (20%)

  • Proofread and edit a variety of materials
  • Work the marketing/outreach table at Strathmore events and festivals in rotation with other staff.
  • Oversee content for and production and placement of posters, banners, and more.
  • Contribute to the development and production of Strathmore’s newsletters and brochures.
  • Act as backup for website and email marketing tasks.
  • Participate in grassroots marketing initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • 40 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.

  • Produce high-quality, marketing materials to meet organizational goals.
  • Edit and improve materials.
  • Contributing to a proactive flow of new ideas to express Strathmore’s artistic leadership.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with fellow staff, patrons, partners, vendors, and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in marketing & communications.
  • BA or equivalent certification.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and collaborative attitude.
  • Familiarity with the DC media market.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Photoshop, web content management software (Umbraco specifically), Tessitura Software, or email automation software is a plus.
  • Desire to grow, learn, and contribute to a team.

STATUS & SALARY

This is an exempt, salaried position. Salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $50-$60,000 annually with a competitive benefits package. All contacts and correspondences will remain confidential.
