Full-Time Digital Event Manager

Department: External Affairs

Location: Any US Location (Headquarters based in Atlanta)

Position Summary:

A key member of the events team within the External Affairs division, the Digital Events Manager will assist and lead planning organization events, enterprise meetings, annual conference, and other activation opportunities that advance the profile of the Points of Light brand as well as make an impact to target audiences. The Digital Events Manager will manage multiple events throughout the year, some may be virtual or hybrid, while others may be in-person.

The Digital Events Manager is a project manager who understands marketing and promotion and will assist in implementing these techniques. We want to see enthusiastic candidates with fresh ideas and the organizational skills required to not leave anything about an event to chance. The Events Manager will assist in setting up and executing events, contracting and managing vendor relations. The position requires team support and collaboration with other individuals in the organization.

Position Functions and Responsibilities include:

  • Establish and manage event planning timelines; creates task assignments; and proposes resources needed to execute meetings, functions and special events.
  • Facilitate event briefing and coordination of speakers/presenters, including consolidating technical requirements, organizing event rehearsals and troubleshooting IT issues related to event platform.
  • Lead configuration of events on virtual platforms, collaborating with digital team and product teams as necessary.
  • Manage aspects of the event planning process for virtual, hybrid and in-person events, including collaboration with subcontractors, venue or platform identification, and other logistics
  • Work in partnership with finance to ensure requirements are met in contracting and reporting.
  • Assist with promotional activities for the events.
  • Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports. Prepare post-event analysis to assess opportunities and make recommendations for improving events and services to internal and external constituencies, and to implement recommendations as appropriate.
  • Participate in brainstorming strategic and impactful angles, initiatives and activities to support organizational goals and campaigns.
  • Attend events in support of the organization’s mission and department needs {travel – less than 30%}.

Core Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Skilled in project management
  • Knowledge of marketing techniques for event management
  • Advanced knowledge of virtual event platform and technical director of live virtual events
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows application PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel and project management software
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Customer-service orientation
  • A team player with leadership skills
  • Must be a self-starter who requires little supervision to meet goals
  • Excellent time management and communication skills required
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • A passion for events and comfort working under tight deadlines

Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ event management experience
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Zoom, Bizzabo or Cvent
  • Proven track record of identifying and maximizing event opportunities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, PR, Sports/Event Management or a related field
  • CMP, DES or industry designation preferred
