Job description

The Voyager Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft is a military derivative of the Airbus A330-200 airliner. It is designed as a dual role Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) and Air Transport (AT) aircraft, while the passenger cabin can also be converted to provide an aeromedical evacuation capability including critical care patients.

The Voyager DT has responsibility for the £10.6bn PFI and for holding AirTanker to account for the successful delivery of Air to Air Refuelling and Air Transport services to the MOD. This role is an integral position in providing analysis and support to the Service Delivery Manager to successfully manage the in service support of the Voyager fleet in accordance with the PFI contract. You will need to be highly proactive and a good team player, leading both your own team of 2 staff but also working closely with the commercial team to ensure the services are being delivered as per the contract. The role requires regular interaction with industry partners to ensure that any issues with the services are resolved and also active involvement in regular meetings to review the performance of the contract supporting the Service Delivery Manager as necessary. You will be actively involved in the management of Training and contractual KPI’s.

Given the dynamic environment, no two days will be quite the same; one may find you working with your customer to explain and provide metrics on the fleet performance another may involve providing statistics for a parliamentary question. You will also regularly interact with other functions within the Delivery team such as finance, project controls and technical teams reporting to the Service Delivery Manager as to how the contract is performing.

Responsibilities

In order to be considered for this role, you need to show evidence of the following criteria:

• Significant experience of working within at least one of the following fields: Operations Management or Project Management.
• Experience of making clear, pragmatic and manageable plans for performance management of contracts.
• Experience of ensuring contracted services met the scope and requirements of the customer.
• Experience of managing budgets, monitoring actual spend and updating forecasts accordingly.

It would be desirable if you had either military or aerospace knowledge as well.

This position will require you to obtain security clearance (SC – security check).
