Full-Time Website and Digital Engagement Officer
Job Description
Based in Bristol, the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) is one of the world’s leading photography organisations. The RPS was founded in 1853, when photography was in its infancy, to make the science and art of photography more widely available. The RPS is committed to bringing photography to everyone as a UK educational charity and through its international community of over 10,000 members.
This is a really exciting time to join the staff team at the RPS. We have just launched a dynamic new strategy (details here), and have commissioned a new CRM in late 2021/22 to support all our national and international activities, membership and public engagement. The current RPS website was commissioned in November 2019 and runs on an Umbraco CMS.
The role encompasses two main areas:
1) Website management involving content creation, copywriting, analysis, project and stakeholder management and training and technical support for staff, volunteers and members. The post holder will be the main point of contact to the website developers and is responsible for raising issues and managing fixes. In the short term, the post holder will be directly involved in integrating the new CRM with the website.
2) Working closely with, and reporting to, the Marketing and Communications Manager, the post holder will help develop and execute marketing and communications campaigns across all digital channels, aligning with the RPS’ strategic goals and objectives.
Main responsibilities
• Responsible for managing and developing the website to support wider communications and marketing goals, and the strategic aims of the organisation
• Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to plan and deliver campaigns that encompass all digital channels
• Create, implement and maintain a website digital strategy that aligns with goals of other digital channels
• Act as the main point-of-contact for the website developers, CRM project manager and website hosts for ongoing website enhancements, working with staff and volunteers to implement and test
• Content creation and copywriting for website and other digital channels
• Monitor, measure and respond to key metrics, audience feedback and data to support technical and process improvements for audience engagement through digital channels
• Produce regular reports of analysis to Marketing and Communications Manager, Senior Leadership Team, trustees and staff
• Point of contact for staff and volunteers: providing technical and content support, responding to website enquiries and providing CMS training
• Maintain branding, tone of voice, style and content guidelines across the website and digital channels. Proofing and editing of all content for consistency, quality and accuracy
• Provide marketing support across digital channels including social media and newsletters
• Supports and amplifies the RPS’ commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion
• Manage the website budget
Appointment
The role is a permanent position with a 35 hours/week with a salary of £27,500. The RPS offers 20 days paid holiday plus public holidays and a pension scheme. The RPS is based in Bristol and some home working will be considered, but the post holder would be expected to work a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. The role reports to the Marketing and Communications Manager.
