Full-Time Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Job Description

The Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is responsible for strategic leadership, direction, and accountability for internal and external DEI initiatives. Reporting directly to the President and CEO and working in partnership with other Vice Presidents and senior leaders, the Vice President of DEI collaborates across the organization to set short-term and long-term strategic priorities of the organization along the pillars of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position provides dynamic and visionary leadership in representing Colorado Access and the communities we serve.

  • Develops, manages, and implements strategic plan components related to DEI for internal and external initiatives.  Ensures DEI initiatives are aligned with the company’s strategic goals, vision and values.
  • Serves as the Executive Sponsor for Mission leadership on equity in the community we serve, partners with clinical and community experts.  Provides leadership and coordination to ensure the successful development and implementation of external DEI initiatives.
  • As Executive Sponsor, provides direction and leadership for internal DEI work that is accomplished through DEI-engaged employees, Human Resources and Learning & Development and existing committees.  Works effectively in this matrixed environment to ensure successful alignment, development, and implementation of internal DEI initiatives.
  • Serves as thought leader for DEI internal and external initiatives and leads DEI-engaged employees on opportunities around solutions, measures, reporting and assessment of impact.
  • Develops effective communication and consultative relationships with key internal and external community stakeholders; engages visibly as a liaison with the community and builds an effective relationship between the community and Colorado Access around DEI issues.
  • Works collaboratively with communications on DEI matters.  Partners with Communications to develop and implement DEI communications including website content to promote DEI activities, initiatives and messages for both internal and external audiences.
  • Provides regular status reports to Executive Team, Board of Directors and staff on DEI program initiatives.
  • Serves as an expert on DEI core value work to integrate into the culture, company policies, and the company strategic plan.
  • Partners with senior leaders and DEI-engaged employees to develop and analyze metrics for measuring progress and effectiveness of internal and external DEI tactics and programs.
  • Conducts annual gap analysis and needs assessment, in collaboration with DEI-engaged employees, and proposes opportunities to CEO and Executive Team.
  • Partners with Human Resources, Learning and Development, Strategy & Communications to integrate DEI initiatives into the overall candidate and employee experience and for the development of delivery of DEI training.
  • Keeps up to date on DEI industry trends, legislative policy and organizational best practices.
  • Identifies new programs or initiatives that can bolster diversity within our company and that reflects the best expertise in this space; from increasing representation to ensuring we have an inclusive culture that truly reflects our values.
  • Leads DEI related projects.  Proactively manages expectations of all interested parties and defines clear program roadmaps with key deliverables and milestone dates, provides frequent program updates, identifies and communicates risks and adjustments to overall programs/projects, and ensures commitments are delivered.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare
Administration or Organizational Effectiveness, or public health, with a master’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted with a preference for seven years progressive relevant work experience including advancing management responsibility.
Experience: Three to five years’ professional leadership experience, or relevant community leadership experience, overseeing and directing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives and/or public health initiatives, and leading organizational change.  Project management experience required. Healthcare industry experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated expertise in developing, leading and executing corporate strategic DEI initiatives.  Demonstrated expertise of leading and managing corporate internal and external communications required.  Significant knowledge of the local systems of care, community organizations, governmental agencies, and the leadership of these organizations is highly desired.  Must be sensitive to the workings of these organizations and have the ability to negotiate complex political environments.  Must be able to bring alignment across functional areas and effectively lead teams.  Cultural competency with groups that are significantly represented in the membership and community is required.  Strategic business planning, change management, people management and project management skills required.  Demonstrates support for the company’s mission, vision and values.  Position requires excellent written and verbal communication and facilitation skills with significant public speaking experience to present information in a credible and professional manner to both internal and external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to collaborate across business units and develop strategic partnerships both internally and externally.  Strong influencing skills with an ability to drive alignment across executives and peers at all levels in the organization.  Strong leadership skills required including team development, mentoring and coaching, and personnel management.  May be required to manage multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines.

 

Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving.
