Job Summary:
AdvanceCare Pharmacy is dedicated to serving the LGBTQ+ community and is seeking a hands-on, execution-focused Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) / Pharmacy Manager to lead our community pharmacy and mail service operations
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and direct execution of pharmacy operations in a growing, mission-driven environment. The PIC will work within the daily workflow (not just oversee it), ensuring prescriptions are processed accurately, eOiciently, and in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The PIC will play a critical role in delivering culturally competent care to a diverse patient population, including individuals living with HIV, those at risk for STDs/STIs, members of the LGBTQ+ community, communities of color, and underserved populations.
This is a roll-up-your-sleeves leadership role requiring strong operational discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to bring structure and accountability to a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management & Workflow Execution
- Actively participate in and lead daily pharmacy workflow, including:
o Prescription intake, data entry, verification, dispensing, billing, and shipping
- Maintain ownership of queue performance across all workflow stages (intake → fill → verification → ship)
- Ensure prescriptions are processed accurately and within defined turnaround times
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement practical, real-time solutions Regulatory Compliance & PIC Responsibilities
- Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge with the State Board of Pharmacy
- Ensure full compliance with all federal and state regulations (State Board of Pharmacy, HIPAA)
- Responsible for all required records, logs, and documentation, including:
o PDMP compliance o Inspection readiness materials
- Lead and prepare for Board inspections and audits
- Report, investigate, and resolve medication errors and compliance issues Mail Order & Multi-State Operations
- Oversee and actively participate and support mail service pharmacy operations, including:
o Packaging, labeling, and shipping compliance o Delivery tracking and documentation
- Ensure compliance with non-resident pharmacy requirements across all serviced states
- Support multi-state licensure requirements for the pharmacy and staO
- Ensure required patient counseling is completed (including telephonic counseling when applicable)
Professional & Clinical Services
- Administer vaccines and long-acting injectable medications as permitted by law
- Support development and execution of collaborative practice agreements where applicable
- Provide direct patient counseling and clinical oversight
Support services related to:
- HIV prevention and treatment (PrEP, ART) o Gender-aOirming therapies
- Inventory Management: Order pharmaceuticals from designated wholesalers, including 340B accounts for covered entity partners. Ensure the proper storage and handling of all medications
- Manage recalls, returns, and proper disposal of drugs and hazardous waste. Conduct routine inventory counts and document any necessary adjustments.
Quality Assurance & Safety
- Monitor dispensing accuracy and overall medication safety
- Conduct routine audits of workflows, documentation, and compliance practices
- Identify errors, trends, and process gaps and implement corrective actions
- Reinforce a culture of accountability and “inspect what you expect”
Team Leadership & Culture
- Supervise pharmacists, technicians, and support staO while working alongside them in the workflow
- Set clear expectations for performance, accountability, and professionalism
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training
Professionalism & Work Environment
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized pharmacy environment
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and PHI protection Additional Duties
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to support pharmacy operations and patient care

Education
- Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution
- Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in home state
- Eligible to serve as PIC
- Willingness to obtain licensure in multiple states
Experience:
- 5+ years of pharmacist experience
- 2–3+ years in a leadership, PIC, or lead pharmacist role
- Experience in community, mail order, or specialty pharmacy
- Experience working in a high-volume environment
Preferred Experience
- Experience in startup or high-growth environments
- Experience with HIV PrEP, HIV treatment, or LGBTQ-focused care Experience with mail order and multi-state pharmacy operations
- Willingness to obtain licensure in multiple states, including: AL, AK, AR, IL, KS, KY, LA, MD, MA, MI, MS, NE, NV, OK, OR, TN, TX, VA, WV
- Training or willingness to administer long-acting injectable medications
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
