Part-Time Non Executive Director
At South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) we are responsible for providing ambulance services across 10,000 square miles or 20% of mainland England. Covering the counties of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the former Avon area (Bristol, Bath, North and North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire), we serve a population of over 5.5 million with an estimated 23 million visitors each year. With 4,000 clinical and operational staff, we provide Emergency ambulance 999 services (A&E); Urgent Care Services (UCS) and NHS 111 call-handling, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Seeking to appoint Non-Executive Director(s) to join our Board, we are looking for those already working at board or a very senior executive level. SWASFT celebrates multiple points of view and we believe diversity drives innovation. As such, we would particularly welcome applications from those who are significantly underrepresented in our sector; women, disabled people and individuals from BAME and LGBTQ communities. In terms of expertise, we are looking for a range of individuals with a significant track record in any of the following areas:
• Organisational development and transformation: with a focus on people and culture;
• Operational logistics and management, ideally overseeing change in a multi-site environment;
• Digital technology; specifically, data analytics and information management.
You know what it takes to make change happen; able to look ahead and take the wider strategic view, you will be independent of thought, have high levels of integrity with the energy and resilience to fulfil the requirements of the role. Above all else, you will bring a deep-seated commitment to use your skills and experience to help provide high quality patient care.
TO BE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY: To be able to take up this appointment the successful candidate will be eligible for public membership of South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust (i.e. They must be a resident in the South West of the UK).
