This position is currently eligible to telework. This position will be required to work in the office at least 1 to 2 days per week. This may change based on business needs. There will be some travel required within the State of Washington.

Your opportunity at a glance

The WSLCB Information Technology Services Division is announcing an exciting opportunity for an IT System Administration – Entry at Olympia, WA. This position reports to theIT DevOps Supervisor in the WSLCB’s Information Technology Services Division (ITSD).

This System Administrator position resides within the Operational Support DevOps Team and supports the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and operational support of WSLCB mission-critical applications and enterprise platforms. The DevOps team provides application support, operational maintenance, automation, and system administration services across agency SaaS, COTS, database, and custom-developed application environments

The focus of this position is application support for the agency’s mission-critical applications. Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for application maintenance and support including basic configuration, data management and analysis, and development of knowledge documentation. This position’s responsibilities also include providing technical support to external users, account management and permissions related to these systems. Problems may be of an urgent and critical nature, requiring work to be completed beyond scheduled working hours to bring systems back online. 

The incumbent applies technical knowledge to evaluate and follow established work methods, policies and procedures. New or advanced enhancement efforts may involve coordination and collaboration with a higher level of support. The incumbent also provides administration support, not limited, to the following related application services: Content Management, Cannabis Inventory Reporting, Workflows, Web Content, Data Reporting, and Business Intelligence tools.

Duties

Some of the duties you will perform are:

  • Responsible for account creation and maintenance for Cannabis Central Reporting System, Tax and Fee reporting, Content Management, Workflow and data services.
  • Assist with administration, maintenance, and support of associated SaaS and COTS solutions using administration and configuration toolsets.
  • Work with solution providers to coordinate and schedule system updates and upgrades.
  • Work with vendors and third-party system integrators and developers to assist in the resolution of complex system problems.
  • Collaborate with product management, system analysts, and business analysts in user story refinement.
  • Use Azure DevOps (ADO) to manage all tasks and work estimation.
  • Document problem-solving processes, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders, including leadership, product management, development teams, end users, and other interested parties.
  • Create knowledge base articles to assist in problem resolution.
  • Manage and respond to service request and incident as assigned in the Agency’s ITSM system.
  • Increase Knowledge and Skills Related to Technologies and Systems.

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Experience should include experience and demonstrable knowledge in following areas:

  • Working level knowledge of administering Microsoft stack custom developed applications, logging, and event triggers.
  • Working level knowledge of SaaS and COTS (non-Microsoft) enterprise- wide multi-tier applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences. Professional and courteous in all interactions, great interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of business intelligence application administrator managing the data sources and environments.
  • Working level knowledge of information technology system maintenance, troubleshooting, problem resolution, of computer systems applications or databases.
  • Working level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, T-SQL query development, stored procedures, database troubleshooting, and operational data support.
  • Basic experience with scripting and automation technologies including PowerShell, Python, or Windows batch scripting.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications: 

  • Advanced technical knowledge configuring and maintaining SaaS and COTS solutions.
  • Working level knowledge of Active Directory with specific focus on user and group permissions.
  • Applied experience in the design of user interfaces and the design, creation, organization, and hosting of Drupal site collections on Pantheon that support the communication of agency business externally.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure environments including Windows Server administration, Cloud environment administration, system services, scheduled tasks, storage management, and application hosting support.
