Full-Time Housing Navigator at Men’s Shelter

Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Housing Navigator is a type of Case Manager at Compass that will maintain a caseload of homeless participants, many of whom will have multiple barriers (i.e. serious mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, frequent contact with law enforcement, etc.). The Housing Navigator will engage and develop relationships with participants, and provide support services so that secure, stable, and permeant housing may be achieved. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Blaine Center is a 24-hour shelter program, that provides shelter for 60 men. Clients access on-site housing navigation, hygiene services, daily meals, and a variety of case management resources to help eliminate barriers to stability. This intensive case management program is designed to move guest towards stable, permanent housing.

LOCATION: Blaine Center Men’s Shelter near Seattle Center (Seattle, WA)
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Sunday & Monday 8am-4pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 12-8pm, Thursday 2-10pm, with biweekly staff meetings Tuesdays 4-6pm
SALARY RANGE: $18.58 (Level 1) or $20.09 (Level 2 MSW or other relevant clinical Master’s degree) per hour

QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree required, in human services or psychology, a plus. Master’s degree preferred in social work or a related field.
A minimum of 1-year experience in case management.
2+ years’ experience working in a human service setting related to housing and homelessness.
Or any equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Demonstrated familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
Experience building supportive and respectful relationships with individuals who have experienced homelessness, and who live with mental illness and/or addiction.
