Wage: $27.81
Schedule: 9AM-5PM, Monday- Friday
Location: 1020 Grand Concourse- North Professional Wing Bronx, NY 10451
What drives the core purpose of this job:
The Employment Specialist is responsible for providing counseling, vocational assistance, job development and job placement with economic self-sufficiency as the objective of the counseling process to participants of the TASC Employment Initiative.
What are the key Responsibilities:
- Perform vocational assessments.
- Provide on-going counseling to develop vocational and educational plans based on education, employment background, expressed interest and career exploration activities.
- Provide job placement services to clients to meet outcome objectives.
- Conduct follow-up counseling sessions to review progress toward established goals.
- Administer, score and interpret aptitude, interest and work sample tests when appropriate.
- Function as agency liaison with vocational agencies such as ACCES-VR, NADAP, One-Stop Employment centers, etc.
- Maintain individual client case files.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, in-service workshops and seminars.
- Explore and become familiar with community resources for referral purposes.
- Prepare required forms and keep statistics on client contacts, referrals, job activities, etc.
- Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.
What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or educational equivalent required.
- Must be trained Workforce Development Specialist or obtain OES or WDS certification within the first year of hire date with experience in the vocational area and working with NYC Workforce resources.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
