Are you a Quality Assurance (QA) Professional seeking an exciting and challenging role?

The Defence Quality Assurance Field Force (DQA-FF) is the primary organisation within MOD for the delivery of Government Quality Assurance Surveillance (GQAS) during all phases of defence capability acquisition.

GQA provides confidence to the Acquirer that contractual requirements related to quality are performed effectively. This is achieved through the deployment of subject matter experts who apply GQAS techniques within the defence supply chain throughout the project life cycle. These techniques are applied at Management System, process or product level, and are based on an assessment of the supplier’s capability and performance.

Our successful Quality Assurance engineer will be appointed as a Section Leader responsible for managing 7 Quality Engineers who are based out of offices at TA Centre West Bromwich and MOD Chilwell (note: location under review due to closure of Chilwell site planned for 2024).

Please note that due to the nature of the projects involved, this role is open to applications from sole UK Nationals only.

Responsibilities

In this varied role, QA Engineers will conduct surveillance at suppliers throughout East and West Midlands. The work is interesting and provides the opportunity to develop your knowledge, as suppliers across domains will include:

– Air – aircraft production, and component manufacture and repair
– Land – vehicle production, maintenance and repair, and management of MOD supply chains and procurement; missile systems, including rocket motor production
– Submarines – including manufacture of critical parts (‘First Level’)

Experience of engineering quality assurance within an engineering environment particularly gained within the air vehicle, land vehicle, missile systems, submarine or component manufacture environment would be advantageous. Part of the role may include Flight Authorisation Certification duties in accordance with Def Stan 05-100 and Defence Condition 638.

The post will include duty travel within the UK with occasional overnight stays. Travel to and from suppliers within the section’s area of responsibility is also expected.

The MoD operates a QA Licencing scheme and applicants will be expected to work towards attaining a MOD QA licence within 2 years of joining.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
• Level 4 qualification or higher, e.g. HND or can demonstrate suitable experience in a Quality Assurance environment.
• Applied knowledge of Quality Assurance within the engineering acquisition environment supported by expertise in multiple QA specialist areas including Configuration Management.
• Breadth of industry/manufacturing and Quality Assurance experience gained from involvement with multiple projects and domains including supply chain engagement.

It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Chartered Quality Professional (CQP), Quality Practitioner or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
