Part-Time Accounting Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Assistant to provide daily support to our busy accounting and operations department. This part time position will help to maintain order and transparency for our company’s finances. We’re a casual and fun creative production company and are seeking someone with production accounting experience. Must be able to work independently and have great communication skills. Attention to detail, a passion for numbers, and high workflow efficiency are a must.

  • 20 – 25 hours per week

 

Overview:

  • As an Accounting Assistant your role combines aspects from overall company finances as well as project based accounting and bookkeeping. 
  • This position supports in following all regulatory and accounting guidelines. 
  • You will assist in identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems.
  • The Accounting Assistant will be working closely with our Junior Accountant and Controller as well as the company’s other departments such as Production, Development and Sales.
  • An effective Accounting Assistant has good knowledge of accounting principles and exceptional bookkeeping skills. 
  • You must be an organized professional with a great eye for details. 
  • This role requires someone that is reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
  • The goal is to assist in keeping the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control. 

 

Job Duties

  • Performing day to day bookkeeping in accordance with accounting principles
  • Assisting in payroll oversight and processing for jobs booked
  • Helping to reconcile budgets for monthly or annual closing
  • Audit support for accountants/business managers
  • Processing invoice payments and accounts payable
  • Daily correspondence with vendors and production teams to ensure timely payments 
  • Supporting most aspects of accounting management 
  • Complying with all procedures for invoices, checks and timecard approvals
  • Assisting in reviewing company and project accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, equivalent and/OR 1 + years of proven experience in bookkeeping or production accounting
  • Entertainment payroll accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize and problem solve
  • Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels throughout the company
  • Ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks
  • Highly organized with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial processes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word Skills
  • G Suite experience
