Job description
Are you a Quality Assurance Professional seeking an exciting and challenging role? If so we have an opportunity within DE&S for a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer in the Vehicle Support Team, within the Service Management Function.
This exciting opportunity offers the chance to support in-service armoured fighting vehicles, wheeled patrol vehicles, logistics vehicles, white fleet and many more. The Vehicle Support Team runs a portfolio of high value and/or complex service delivery contracts, and leads the early engagement with setting quality contract conditions, approvals, and scrutiny for contract extensions or replacement contracts. This work brings it into wider contact with almost all Land Equipment Operating Centre activity, suppliers, and other MOD organisations.
The QA team provides Technical Assurance for contractor-delivered services and products, ensuring that vehicles remain supportable and available to the frontline user. The role provides confidence to the acquirer that contractual requirements related to quality are being performed effectively; this is achieved through deployment of subject matter experts within the defence supply chain throughout the life cycle. These techniques are applied at management system, process or product level, and are based on an assessment of the supplier’s capability and performance.
Responsibilities
You will lead and manage the QA team within the Vehicle Support Team (comprising four individuals stationed at two locations) and will support the upskilling of existing and new staff, as part of their continuing professional development. You will also engage with the Defence Quality Field Force, whose purpose is to assist customers with assurance that suppliers satisfy contractual quality requirements and improve confidence in suppliers’ ability to deliver a quality product.
You will contribute to the development and delivery of engineering services. In order to establish demand priorities and commitment of resources, you will be responsible for stakeholder engagement with a range of customers and will travel within the UK as required. You will be accountable for the assurance of delivery team compliance with mandated requirements for quality and JSP940, which details the quality policy that shall be applied across MOD organisations for the assurance of acquisition, engineering and logistics support in delivery of defence capability.
You will be responsible for managing and integrating multi-function QA delivery teams, directing resources to deliver packages of work/services, including complex upgrades, utilising new and existing technologies and interfacing with multiple stakeholders. You will deploy the QA acquisition framework within a major project or service, producing the QA Plan and specifying the Quality requirements within the Through Life Management Plan
You will ensure solutions are clearly defined, integrated, configured, controlled and delivered, including resolution of conflicts and integration issues. You will interpret QA and wider engineering policy and management information, to provide relevant business insights to the senior leadership team, helping to shape Portfolio QA Strategy and Policy, and the development and delivery of Government Quality Assurance Surveillance.
