Full-Time Data Scientist, Blockchain Intelligence
Job Description

Data Scientists are embedded in our Blockchain Intelligence team under Data Engineering. This team is the mastermind behind the algorithms and models that solved cases ranging from the most recent Twitter hack to bringing down one of the largest child abuse networks in the world. Data Scientists in the Blockchain Intelligence team have a deep understanding of various protocols, are experts at identifying transaction patterns, develop new techniques to analyze blockchain data and participate in complex investigations if needed. We measure success by the insights we can surface to our customers about the activity on a given blockchain and the accuracy of those insights.
In one year you’ll know you were successful if you have…
- Learned the ins and outs of our clustering techniques
- Developed new clustering techniques that are used in production
- Conducted complex investigations that resulted in success for our customers
- Become one of the experts in analyzing BTC/UTXO data
- Contributed to the effectiveness and speed of the Blockchain Intelligence team
A background like this helps:
- Deep understanding of the Bitcoin protocol both from a protocol and data perspective
- Experience with one or more Object-Oriented programming languages (Java, C++, Scala, etc.)
- Proven experience with data cleaning including missing value handling, scaling and normalization, parsing dates, char encoding, and controlling for inconsistent data entry
- Experience with Python, Pandas, SQL and/or R
- The versatility and willingness to learn new technologies on the job
- The ability to clearly communicate complex results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Bias for action
Bonus Points:
- Understanding of efficient data structures, algorithms and computational complexity
- Experience with statistical analysis on real world datasets
- Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark
- Experience with graph traversal and computation
- Data Visualization experience using matplotlib, ggplot, bokeh, d3.js etc
