Full-Time Housing Navigator at Women’s Shelter
Job Description
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Housing Navigator is a type of Case Manager who maintains a caseload of homeless participants, many of whom have multiple barriers (i.e. serious mental illness, substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, frequent contact with law enforcement, etc.). The Housing Navigator engages and develops relationships with participants, and provides support services so that secure, stable, and permenant housing may be achieved. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).
ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Jan & Peter’s Place Women’s Shelter provides a safe, warm place to sleep each night for 40 female-identifying individuals who are experiencing homelessness. Previously known as Hammond House, Jan & Peter’s Place has expanded its services as a 24/7 Enhanced Shelter program. Our enhanced shelter model removes several barriers for people transitioning off the street by partnering overnight shelter with 24/7 on-site support services and intensive case management including housing navigation services. Access to Jan & Peter’s Place is by referral only through the Women’s Referral Center.

LOCATION: North Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, WA
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Tuesday-Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday & Saturday 12-8pm; biweekly staff meeting Wednesdays 3-5pm
SALARY RANGE: $18.58 (Level 1) or $20.09 (Level 2 MSW) per hour
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree required, in human services or psychology, a plus. Master’s degree preferred in social work or a related field.
- A minimum of 1-year experience in case management, desired.
- A minimum of 2-years’ experience working in a human services setting related to housing and homelessness, required.
- Or any equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Demonstrated familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, required.
