Field Manager 

 

The AZ Poder Field Manager will work directly with the Field Director to manage and organize the people behind Poder’s robust, community-powered electoral field operation focused on turning out and persuading voters in alignment with AZ Poder’s values and campaign priorities. This person will manage Poder’s electoral canvass team, coordinate volunteers, and help develop weekly canvass plans and goals to reach voters in the community. This canvassing will focus on having real conversations about the issues that matter and moving our people to turnout for elections and take political action. 

 

The ideal candidate has experience with political canvassing including previous experience as a canvasser and ideally experience as an organizer. This person should believe in community-led organizing, have deep respect for relational work, and understand the importance of building power with, not for, our people.  This is a cycle job ending December 2026 with potential opportunity for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, train, and support canvass leads, canvassers, and volunteers across Phoenix 
  • Collaborate with the Field Director to identify weekly goals and convert those into canvass plans to reach target communities through Phoenix. Make adjustments as needed.
  • Use VAN to track progress, measure impact, and cut turf
  • Track progress toward weekly and cycle-long canvass goals and ensure the team stays consistently meets goals
  • Manage, collect, and deliver all canvass documentation (either in person or digitally) in accordance with Poder deadlines
  • Lead canvass and volunteer team meetings and trainings
  • Participate in regular team meetings and in field strategy discussions
  • Represent the campaign in the community including through community events and electoral tables
  • Transport volunteers to assigned turfs as needed
  • Participate as part of the team by contributing toward weekly goals including:
    • Knocking on doors
    • Tabling
  • Support build a culture of care, discipline, and joy within the field team; address conflict and burnout with compassion and rigor

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 cycles of PAC, campaign, or 501(c)4 electoral field working, including at least 1 cycle of canvass experience required, and at least 1 cycle of additional organizing experience preferred
  • Passionate about social justice, racial equity, and community power
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative work style
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently with a strong ability to meet deadline and goals consistently
  • Commitment to personal growth and leadership development
  • Willing and able to knock on doors and talk to people you don’t know
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Spanish fluency highly preferred; additional languages (e.g., Somali, Swahili, Arabic, Tohono O’odham) a plus
  • Familiarity with VAN or EveryAction a plus
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation both to and from the Poder office and to and from canvassing turf
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Logistics:

    • Salary: $6,000 per month
    • Status: Full-time, Temporary (Campaign cycle)
  • Benefits: AZ Poder offers a competitive benefits package covering 100% of employee medical insurance premiums and a phone stipend.
  • Location: Phoenix, AZ (In-person, with some travel required)
