Full-Time Data Collection Engineer – Entry Level!
Job Description
- Assist the State Data Collection and Investigations Engineer by assisting with day-to-day data collection needs.
- Perform investigative work in the field and the laboratory to collect data, information and records on new products.
- Evaluate products to determine reasons for poorly performing materials and/or manufactured products which fail to perform as designed.
- Perform research, analyze collected data, information, and test results, and report findings and conclusions.
- Assist in the monitoring and performance evaluation of new/modified manufactured products and construction materials under evaluation, and implementation of new/modified procedures/specifications in the field and the lab.
- Assist the State Data Collection and Investigations Engineer in the operation of inspection equipment assigned to the Materials and Tests Unit, including Shaft Inspection Device Video Inspection System, Pipe Rover Video Inspection System, Concrete Core Drill, and other hand-held equipment.
- Aid the section by staying abreast of upgraded technology on data collection devices as well as new technology developed by the Industry.
- Computer software experience (spreadsheets, databases, & word processors).
- Demonstrated ability to prepare reports/letters and keep accurate records.
- Knowledge of electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated experience with transportation construction and maintenance procedures.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- We may require registration as a professional engineer with the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
