We are seeking a Maintenance Work Management (MWM) Specialist.  Reporting to the Director, Reliability, Maintenance and Turnaround (RMT), this role enables optimal execution of NOVA’s Operational Reliability Management System (ORMS) Maintenance Work Management (MWM) systems. This role is responsible for:

  • Upgrading, developing, and sustaining the ORMS MWM systems capabilities (people, processes, tools) under day-to-day direction of the Maintenance Center of Excellence (CoE) Manager, with the ultimate goal of creating a consistent approach to MWM.
  • Working collaboratively with all Maintenance/MWM teams and manufacturing leadership (including Responsible Care, Procurement, Engineering, etc.) to ensure consistency.
  • Working across all regions to ensure delivery, implementation and embedment of MWM systems and standards.
  • Working collaboratively with all RMT and Operational Performance Excellence (OPE) team members to ensure alignment of MWM work processes with the other ORMS elements of Reliability, Asset Registry, Turnaround and Production.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Review, develop, create and sustain MWM Systems.
  • Act as a change agent in continuous improvement of current standards, providing support to the regional manufacturing organizations in their understanding and implementation of these standards.
  • Manage resources (budget, leverage internal SMEs, external resources) as assigned.
  • Support selection of external auditors for MWM benchmarking efforts.
  • Develop MWM capability, through leadership and coaching, for regional teams and leaders.
  • Identify training needs for stakeholders including project teams, leadership and employees, including identification and management of training system knowledge content.
  • Develop, maintain and report KPIs (where applicable) – collaborating with other CoE team members – and assess benefits and results.
  • Travel to the manufacturing sites to develop relationships with and coach stakeholders, complete assurance checks and validate standards application (roughly 25% travel).

What We Are Looking For:

The successful candidate will possess a university degree with 10+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development OR 14+ years’ combination of post-secondary education, industry related experience and continued professional development. A minimum of 8+ years of maintenance experience is required.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

  • Strong commitment to NOVA Chemicals’ values of Responsible Care, with demonstrated contributions to upholding safety, environmental and sustainability standards and values.
  • Advanced knowledge of MWM methodologies, tools, systems and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance Module and integration areas (e.g., materials management, time entry, etc.)
  • Familiarity with reliability and turnaround management processes and how they integrate with MWM to deliver world class results.
  • Firsthand experience with maintenance and/or event planning and scheduling preferred.
  • Demonstrate and model organizational agility via collaboration and innovation with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • An Influencer with a proven track record of influencing senior leadership teams and cross-functional teams in new initiatives.
  • An ability to engage with team members, credibly support and coach, demonstrate empathy to understand challenges and address issues and conflicts.
  • Experience in assessing future work needs within the business through relationship building.
  • Demonstrated ability in program administration to capture knowledge, assure quality, manage and mitigate risks, promote safety culture, report progress.
  • A leader who can challenge the status quo, understand the complexity of human behavior and habits, create positive tension to allow people to see and embrace new ways of working and new routines.
  • Support people as they learn new skills and demonstrate new capabilities.

Additional Information:

  • This position can be located at any NOVA Chemicals location in Canada and the United States and will require up to 25% travel to other sites.
