The Opportunity

As a Social Media Manager, your typical day will include:

Social Media Management

  • Creating original content, sharing coalition messaging and/or finding related information that overlaps with the work or People’s Action’s campaigns to push on our social media platforms.
  • Regularly monitor our platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media properties) to ensure our brand and reputation are not at risk.

Campaign Collaboration (Internal/External)

  • Working to connect and strategize on moving people’s action priorities forward.
  • Collaborating with coalition tables on amplifying a unified voice across all social media platforms.
  • Collaborating with campaign leads as thought partners and helping to develop strategic social media campaigns.

Digital Strategy Analysis

  • Reporting KPIs across our digital platforms through analysis of ads/budget breakdowns, CTA responses or content engagement.
  • Collaborating and evaluating campaign/live stream successes.
  • Researching and ensuring that we are on the right track to connect with the right audience.

You Have:

  • At least two to five years experience working in social movements or organizing, either as a paid staff person or volunteer working on digital campaigns or online organizing.
  • 100% follow through and stay on top of specific requests, making sure that you connect with the right campaign/department to get content on our digital platforms.
  • Attention to detail and make sure that our content is polished, edited, and in line with the organizational brand and goals.
  • Optimistic approach and flexibility to work with diverse colleagues and develop a clear understanding of requests in case we need to change or shift a message.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections, both inside and outside the organization.
  • Experience writing and editing persuasive social media content; familiarity with a broad range of social media strategies
  • The ability to write powerfully in sharp, clear, easy to grasp language.
  • Curiosity about the possibilities and insights that can be gleaned from Big Data.

You Might Also Have:

  • A strong, pithy writing style, in which clear language expresses important ideas.
  • Working knowledge of business statistics.
  • Experience with CRMs and online fundraising tools and ad platforms.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and Facebook Business Manager.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.

Compensation and Benefits:

Status: Full-time, Regular, Exempt, benefits-eligible

Salary Range: Level 2- 60,000-67,500

Location. Based in our Chicago, IL office, Washington, D.C. or remote locations may be considered.

Reports to: Digital Content Director in Programs

Benefits include: Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Medical and Dependent Care Flex Spending Account, 403(b) plan, Long-Term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, 10 paid holidays plus the last two weeks of the year that include Christmas Eve/Christmas Day as well as, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day, and you accrue two weeks of vacation your first year of employment.
