Full-Time Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant will report to the Corporate Controller and be involved with all corporate accounting activities including preparing and posting journal entries, financial reporting and analysis, financial close, IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), account reconciliations, corporate consolidations, internal and external audits, process improvements, financial systems, special projects and other duties.  The department provides corporate accounting support, audit management, and corporate consolidations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.

 

Core:

  • Experienced with full cycle general ledger accounting including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Experience preparing and posting journal entries, financial reporting and analysis, financial close, account reconciliations, corporate consolidations, internal and external audits, process improvements, and financial systems.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, provide solutions, and navigate through complex structure, systems, and processes.
  • Experience with ERP and cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Experience with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) preferred.
  • Established and detail-orientated high energy self-starter with experience working in a hands-on environment.
  • Experience identifying and documenting areas for improvement and implementation of more effective and efficient processes and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining a high ownership of work product and commitment.
  • Keen analytical, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Protects operations by keeping company information confidential.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs.
  • Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company’s strategic goals.
  • Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV’s quality standards and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Indirectly or directly supervises employees within the accounting team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.

Education and/or Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in accounting is required.  Minimum of four years of related experience in a corporate accounting setting for a large company; over one year of accounting audit experience.  Expert or advanced proficiency in Excel.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPA preferred.

 

Language Ability: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

Technology Skills:

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software.  Expert or advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience with Tableau preferred.
