The Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defence responsible for the procurement, in service support and disposal of the UK’s nuclear submarines. Our work is of unparalleled strategic importance nationally and internationally, ensuring the security of the UK’s continuous at-sea nuclear deterrent, and delivering the most technically complex programmes in Defence. Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual at entry level to develop skills in a role primarily engaged in Material Accounting transactional activities working under supervision in supply chain management. You will be responsible for helping to achieve business objectives and continue improving performance.
This post will allow you the opportunity to collaborate with customers and supply chain activities to ensure accuracy of Inventory systems, allowing supply demands to be met and value for money to be obtained. Through liaising with stakeholders, you will be accountable for material accounting transactional aspects of supply chain management.
Please be aware that you must be a SOLE UK National to apply for this post. The successful applicant will join the business with SC clearance but will need to be Developed Vetted within 12 months.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you will ensure that a high-quality service is delivered, and this will be demonstrated through your ability to collaborate with others to deliver a positive outcome. Having a good eye for detail and dealing with the management of data will play a vital part of this post.
Key activities may include:
* Maintenance of accurate Inventory records
* Material Accounting Transactions
* Spreadsheet creation/maintenance
* Maintaining financial data
* Maintenance of Training Database
* Travel Booking
• Provide Logistic support to DLM1 for Dreadnought Inventory Management
• Data cleansing
• Support DLM1 in the Management of MJDI
• Support to DLM1 in management of I &C allowances
• Tracking of shipments
This is a varied role within a demanding and busy environment and the candidate must be a confident and forward-thinking individual with analytical skills and a high attention to detail. The role will require regular engagement with people both internal and external to the organisation and must be proactive and able to work independently. Therefore, having good communication skills both verbally and in writing are key. As an individual, you will have a flexible attitude and be conscientious in your work with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Experience of communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
• A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including Maths and English (or equivalent/further academic evidence), relevant experience in a similar environment would also be acceptable.
• IT skills, IT literate, with good understanding of Microsoft office tools as well as being articulate and precise in communicating information.

About your team
The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis and internal continuous improvement consultancy services.
