Full-Time Payroll Specialist

Job Description

ABOUT THE POSITION: The Payroll Specialist is a professional capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of a full-function payroll for an organization of about 200 employees. Key responsibilities include account reconciliation, annual and contract audit preparation, and tax filings. They work collaboratively with the Human Resources department on payroll, timekeeping, benefits administration, and other related technical and employee relations issues. The Payroll Specialist also supports the Finance Department with other projects and tasks as assigned.

LOCATION: Headquarters in Pioneer Square (Seattle, WA)
REPORTS TO: Controller
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
SALARY RANGE: DOE and within Compass ranges

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An Associate degree is strongly desired, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in accounting, finance, or related field. Or relevant work experience, certificate and/or equivalent continuing professional development or education.
  • 2-years’ experience with payroll in a government funded non-profit accounting department, preferred.
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting practices and principles, desired.
  • 1 or more years’ experience with Abila/MIP accounting software, preferred.
  • Familiarity with issues of homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence, desired.
