NEW HIGHER PAY: $31,688 – $55,453
The Challenge
We’re looking for a Human Resources Technician to join our team at our Division 14 team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Serve as personnel support for our NCDOT Division 14 team, being our liaison between HR and the Division for managing and implementing NCDOT personnel-related programs, directives, policies, and procedures.
    • Provide HR instruction, direction, and oversight to our Division/District/Unit clerical staff.
    • Complete HR/Payroll/Benefit training courses.
    • Oversee new employee orientation.
    • Enter personnel actions in the state’s online Human Resources Information System (Fiori).
    • Serve as our Voluntary Shared Leave coordinator.
    • Maintain Personnel files.
    • Assist with payroll questions relating to deductions, leave balances, entry, etc.
    • Assist employees with State benefit questions.
    • Assist with entering and tracking job postings in our online applicant tracking system (NeoGov).
    • Assist with our online performance evaluation and learning management system (NCVIP).
    • Use your computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access), online databases (SAP, Fiori & NeoGov).
    • Communicate with NCDOT staff and the public to provide effective and helpful customer service by email, phone, and written correspondence.
 
What You Bring
    • Positive energy.
    • Experience and technical skills to independently and accurately process, retrieve, and reference personnel data from an online Human Resource Information System, such as Fiori.
    • Experience interpreting and applying federal and state laws related to Human Resources.
    • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word & Excel).
    • Experience compiling clear, concise, and detailed reports.
    • Experience exercising judgment and discretion in the application and interpretation of personnel policies and procedures.
Education & Experience
    • Associate’s degree in in Human Resources or a related field, or
    • High School/GED diploma and 2+ years of HR experience, or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
