Full-Time Housing Liaison (Expedited Housing Initiative)

Lincoln Park Community Services – Posted by Lincoln Park Community Services Chicago, Illinois, United States

Job Description

Expedited Housing Initiative (EHI) Housing Liaison

The Chicago Continuum of Care (CoC), as part of the Expedited Housing Initiative (EHI), is launching Accelerated Moving Events (AMEs) to expedite housing placements for households experiencing homelessness. AMEs bring together Housing Liaisons, logistics staff and staff at service providers (shelters, outreach teams and drop-in centers), to coordinate many people starting the housing process on the same day. Unit identification and landlord outreach and engagement work is done, so during the AME, people can virtually view units, select, and apply for a unit, and complete the necessary paperwork required for program entry. Housing Liaisons play a critical role in helping ensure AMEs are successful and people are housed as quickly as possible.

Role is to assist homeless households to transition into housing through Accelerated Moving Events (AME) by:

• Completing intake paperwork with participant prior to AME. Upload intake paperwork to HMIS after completion
• Gather available documentation prior to AME (ID, Social Security Cards, Proof of income etc.); upload documentation to HMIS
• Participate in all AME by showing unit choices and completing application paperwork with participant
• Complete lease paperwork including lease signing as necessary with participant
• Arrange for furniture delivery with Chicago Furniture Bank
• Transporting participant to their new unit day of move-in or arranging for transportation through Lyft
• “Warm hand off” with the housing case manager

• Travel between client residences and assigned location(s)
• Work is normally performed in office or client residence, including shelters and places not meant for human habitation
• Conducts independent field visits
• Proficient in use and knowledge of Microsoft Office and general office equipment; strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with persons who may be ill, disabled, emotionally upset and/or hostile; ability to show empathy and remain non-judgmental; ability to make independent judgments; demonstrate ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure, fast-paced and time-sensitive environment; training or certification in Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction

This position will be grant-funded through October 2021 but may potentially be extended based on a number of factors.
