An exciting opportunity to be a part of a dynamic community organization committed to improving the lives of those we serve. New Hope Midcoast is a domestic violence resource center that offers support to people affected by domestic abuse, dating violence, and stalking, regardless of gender, age, ability or other identities. We serve Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo counties in Maine. We also provide educational resources to
assist our communities in creating a safer, healthier future.

About the Position
As a Community Prevention Educator, you will connect and collaborate with community organizations to encourage violence prevention, raise awareness, and strengthen their ability to support survivors. You will give presentations and trainings throughout the four counties we serve, but focus on Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties. You will work on the team responsible for social media and website content updates. You will work
on a team to create, plan and advertise awareness events. You will work directly with survivors, individually and in group settings, as an empathetic, nonjudgmental support person and help them as they navigate pathways to safety.

Personal Qualities
● You are a confident, skilled and engaging presenter, able to explain complex content in an accessible way to small or large audiences
● You can both: work independently with limited day-to-day supervision and work collaboratively with other team members and community partners
● You enjoy graphic design, (no formal training necessary) and are able to create eye-catching content
● You have a passion for working toward a safe, equitable work world free from abuse. You bring an intersectional lens to your work with others. You believe in empowering survivors and holding perpetrators accountable.

Qualifications
● Relevant knowledge, experience and skills or equivalent bachelor’s degree
● Practiced presentation and training facilitation skills, able to deliver content virtually and in-person
● Ability to develop and organize community-based outreach and awareness activities
● Ability to research, develop and work with others to develop and tailor training materials
● Able to create content for social media, and proficient in basic social media management.
● Effective listening, written, and oral communication skills
● Group facilitation skills and experience
● Understand and be committed to issues of diversity and intersectional feminism
● Comfortable with technology, including: Zoom, Apple, Google suite, various social media platforms
● Possession of a valid and active Maine driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and adequate insurance, or access to reliable transportation

Additional Job Information
● Full-time (40 hrs/wk) position, in Bath, ME, with travel required throughout our catchment area and the option for working remotely with flexible hours, based on need.
● Significant driving required, based mainly through Sagadahoc & Lincoln counties (business related mileage is reimbursable)
● Rotate as the helpline back up for a 7-day period, 4-5 times a year

● Starting at $19/hour, salary will be commensurate with experience.
