The Challenge
We are looking for an Assistant Traffic Engineer to join our Castle Hayne Traffic Services team.
 
In this role you will:
    • Assist with reviewing traffic impact analysis and project plans.
    • Perform general safety and mobility traffic studies.
    • Handle necessary coordination/inspection for projects under design and construction that the Traffic unit is overseeing,
    • Attend meetings related to these items.
    • Perform complex and detailed work such as traffic studies and plan reviews.
 
What You Bring
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and CADD drafting.
    • Knowledge of engineering standards policies and procedures related to transportation.
    • Experience writing memos, reports, and emails that clearly convey technical information and engineering concepts.
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Experience applying engineering concept to solve complex problems.
    • Ability to gain knowledgeable of all policies and procedures to assure NCDOT specifications are being met.
    • Ability to accurately perform math calculations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, letter writing, and daily contact with the public, government officials, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Notes
    • Safety toe footwear is required within 30 days of employment.
    • State driver’s license is preferred.
    • We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
