Working as part of Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) / Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA) Delivery Teams utilising skills in both Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for supporting the key activities contributing to the through life support of platforms and equipment used by the armed forces.

This could range from the planning, delivery and operation of in-service support to equipment modifications, and the resolution of design and maintenance issues. You will be working collaboratively, with designers in industry and the armed forces as end-users, to provide the cost effective and technically cutting-edge support solutions needed by the wide range of equipment used in Defence.

This might cover in-the-field support, robust enough for the Army’s Apache helicopters, or the state-of-the-art maintenance required by the Royal Navy’s latest ships as well as providing sophisticated support techniques required for specific projects.

Responsibilities

As part of a team contributing to the upkeep of optimised support, you will be responsible for assisting with the development, management and improvement in through life support solutions. You will communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will possess knowledge of ILS or Engineering Support, whilst demonstrating your problem solving capabilities combined with your passion for technology with a customer focus.

Technical responsibilities may include:
• Contributing to defining and developing the ILS Plan (ILSP).
• Assisting with determining the optimum support solution conducting options and trade-off analyses.
• Assisting with the management of availability, reliability and sustainability targets for levels of repair and engineering service levels for through-life management.
• Help with defining and managing through life support contracts.
• Support the planning for platform/equipment end of service life.
• Identify and mitigate the management of through life support risks.

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Experience of working in at least one of the following fields; ILS, engineering, supportability, technical operations management.
• Experience of working within teams, developing equipment support solutions, delivering product support and/or optimisation of product performance.
• An understanding of the ILS elements that contribute to a through life support solution.
• An understanding of platform/equipment availability and the balance of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M).

About your team

The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis.
