Role Overview

As Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll be reporting to our CTO and working with our Developer team to take full ownership of our development, staging, and production infrastructure, operations, and workflows for both our application and data pipeline systems.

As the lead engineer responsible for Format’s cloud-based infrastructure, you’re excited at the idea of designing, building, and maintaining a set of automated application environments that can be easily changed, upgraded, and deployed to with zero downtime.

What you’ll be working on at Format:

  • Incident management: Configuring, maintaining, monitoring and alerting systems for our application and data pipeline systems.
  • Reliability improvement: Designing, implementing, and improving ways to increase reliability, availability, and redundancy.
  • Building Infrastructure: Designing, building, maintaining, and improving staging and production systems in a cloud environment.
  • Process Engineering: Designing, documenting, and implementing development and operations workflows, such as environment standup and teardown.
  • Automating: Improving processes, such as testing and deployment, through the use of automation.

What we would like to see in our ideal candidate:

  • At least 3 years of Operations/DevOps experience or equivalent, including experience with workload orchestration and incident response techniques.
  • Demonstrable experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS), CI/CD, data analytics collection platforms (e.g. Segment), SQL, configuration management (such as Ansible or Chef), Linux, Ruby/Rails, Python, Javascript.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong scripting & systems skills
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • The desire to take initiative and be energized by change
