Full-Time Veterans Resource Center Manager
Job Description
Clark College is currently accepting applications for the position of Veterans Resource Center Manager. This full-time exempt position will provide operational and administrative oversight of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC). This position reports to Director of Career Services. The schedule for this position is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Thursday and 7:30 am – 4:30 pm Friday.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create long-term vision and provide overall management of the Veterans Resource Center (VRC).
• Work to foster an inviting and supportive campus climate for Veterans in the center and on campus. Advocate for the needs of Veterans within the institution and in the community. Supervise Vet Corp Representative, work-study and volunteer staff.
• Work collaboratively with financial aid certifying officials co-located in the VRC, and facilitate weekly staff meetings with all VRC staff members.
• Ensure appropriate budget planning and monitoring, and effective management of resources.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for prospective and currently enrolled military affiliated students and families as needed and appropriate.
• Collect and analyze data and activities for the purpose of program review, evaluation, and revision. Analyze problem areas, recommend corrective action, and project future needs.
• Participate in Student Affairs leadership meetings and communicate important issues with departments. Chair the Veterans Resource Center Advisory Committee.
• Advise the Veterans Club and provide guidance on signature programs throughout the academic year.
• Coordinate, conduct and promote student services for Veterans. Plan and promote transition programs and services to increase Veteran students’ access, retention and success.
• Partner with Counseling and Health Center, Career Services, Financial Aid, Advising, Student Life and other departments on campus to provide programs and services for Veterans and their families.
• Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with community agencies to support the enrollment of veterans and to leverage support networks beyond the college.
• Support college retention efforts by serving as the Veteran Student Cohort Leader and providing interventions for students who have received Academic Early Warning or Academic Concern notices. Consult with faculty who have questions about how to support Veterans in the classroom.
• Work closely with various instructional and student services units to promote awareness of Veteran issues, advocate for Veteran services and educate on issues of war-related trauma.
• Work with VRC staff to develop workshops and orientations for Veteran students. Establish a process for tracking Veteran students and evaluating program outcomes.
• Assist the Clark College Foundation with fundraising activities for the Veterans program, as appropriate.
• Provide leadership in accordance with the Mission and Vision established by the College, furthering Core Themes and College Objectives.
• Model and demonstrate direct and professional communication, professional conduct, collaborative decision-making team building, and self-development.
• Create a safe, bias-free working environment, which engenders respect for differences.
• Provide leadership in accordance with the mission, Core themes, objectives and values established by the college.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Social or Behavioral Science, Social Work, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• One year of relevant experience managing and implementing educational or service programs.
• Two years of experience supervising employees or volunteers.
• Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening skills.
• Superior critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Ability to respond to changing needs, requirements, and information.
• Ability and willingness provide excellent customer service and function well in a busy, sometimes stressful environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
• Experience with and ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing partnerships and performing community outreach, especially with local Veterans’ organizations and other Veteran service providers.
• Experience working with Veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other war-related trauma.
• Professional or personal experience overcoming barriers similar to those confronting Veterans.
• Knowledge about Veterans educational and service benefits.
• Knowledge of higher education structures, processes and procedures. Experience developing and managing budgets.
• Ability to work independently and also collaborate and work well within a team.
• Strong leadership skills and problem solving abilities.
• Preference given to Veteran applicants.
Salary Statement:
$55,119 annually
