Full-Time Accounting Manager
Job Description
Richard Grubb and Associates, Inc is a growing women-owned business looking to add an accounting manager to our team. In business for 35 years, we specialize in archaeology, history, and architectural history. We are searching for an accounting professional to manage day to day duties of our accounting coordinator and providing principals with accurate financial information including budgets, projections, and reporting. This position is based out of our Cranbury, New Jersey office, but could be based remotely or hybrid as well. Salary range starts at 73,000 and is commensurate with experience.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead all Finance and Accounting (including Operations; Accounts Payable/Receivable/Payroll)
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
- Own the month/quarter/year-end close process
- Prepare and record journal entries including payroll
- Develop all financial reporting and associated support schedules
- Manage the audit process with external accounting firm
- Maintain fixed assets schedule and system
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts and provide associated analysis
- Lead all budgeting and multi-year forecasting process
- Reconcile bank accounts or review reconciliations prepared by others
- Review, enhance and implement internal financial controls and procedures
- Develop insightful financial analysis/risks and opportunities to forecast
- Supervise 1 staff member
- Leverage current accounting software to enhance overall reporting and provide actionable financial analysis to Senior Leadership
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
- Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions
Qualifications/Education:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Accounting or equivalent degree – CPA or MBA a plus but not required
- 5 years of accounting experience preferably in an Engineering or similar Professional Services organization
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Polished written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced experience with Excel
- Experience with Sage 50 preferred; experience with BillQuick or BQE Core a PLUS
