Full-Time Chief Finance and Operations Officer

We are seeking a “change the world” finance and business operations leader.  A person whose life has been leading up to this opportunity to bring their professional experience into a company that seeks your gifts and talents to support our mission and growth. 

Avid4 Adventure was founded to measurably change the historic declines in kids’ outdoor participation, engaging them in active outdoor lifestyles that will form the foundation of who they are and we seek the person that can help drive that mission as part of our four person executive team.

We know that to continue to sustainably grow our organization, we seek an experienced strategic financial and business operations leader to oversee the company’s financial planning and position. You will develop the financial and operational infrastructure and processes necessary for successful continued growth. We are seeking an experienced leader with expertise in both financial and operational systems for $20M+ revenue growing businesses that will assure continued compliance with all regulatory entities and set a strong ethical tone at the top. 

The right candidate will be passionate about Avid4 Adventure’s vision and mission and its commitment to increase diversity in the outdoors and diverse leadership in the outdoor industry. You will need to be transparent and collaborative and be able to lead and execute on long term strategic goals, timely financial and operational analysis and reporting, systems design and implementation and can get into the details when required to effectively mentor your team. This position reports to the CEO. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other departments on messaging, pricing strategies, and business models to achieve revenue goals.
  • Lead key strategic contract negotiations.
  • Develop and oversee the annual budget.
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable members of the finance and operations teams.
  • Be a role model of the Avid4 core values.
  • Oversee all aspects of Finance & Administration within the company to include Accounting, G/L, AR/AP, Payroll, Procurement, Treasury, Enterprise (Financial) Risk Management, Giving Strategy, Policy & Procedures, Contracts & Leases, Legal, Technology/IT and Data Security.
  • Oversee all aspects of Benchmarking & Compliance to include Licensing, Accreditation, BCorp Certification and JEDI reporting.
  • Oversee all aspects of HR to include Benefits, Compliance, F/T Recruiting, F/T Onboarding & Orientations and Worker’s Comp.
  • Oversee all aspects of Facility, Equipment and Vehicles to include Facility Management, Vehicle Leases, Equipment Procurement and Sales.
  • Other responsibilities directed by the CEO as needed.

 

Minimum Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant senior leadership 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing business strategy
  • History of decision-making based on business metrics and macro trends
  • Confidence-instilling leadership style and hands-on approach
  • Alignment with the Avid4 Adventure Core Values and B Corp principles

 

Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience leading finance & operations strategy with a $20M+ for-profit company with demonstrated and significant social values.

 

Work Schedule & Benefits:

  • Work location:  Our Headquarters are located in Louisville, CO.  Although there are certain times when in-person meetings and work are necessary, the position has the flexibility to work from home or other off-site locations and could be potentially located remotely. 
  • The salary range for this position is $108,000 – $173,000 per year
  • Total compensation includes a strong benefits package, with health insurance  (with FSA/HSA options and company contributions), 401K plan with company match, outdoor gear pro-purchase program, flexible work environment, financial support for home office setup, unlimited time off, free camp for family members, and much more.

Founded in 2004 in Boulder, Colorado, Avid4 Adventure has averaged 35%+ YoY sustainable growth taking us from one day camp and a van, to 700 staff, 13,000 kids and $13M+ in revenue. We currently serve kids in six states with outdoor adventure day camps, resident camps and expeditions. We facilitate activities that kids love like climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, whitewater rafting, skateboarding, and much more.
