Job Summary
The Director of Marketing, who reports to the Vice President of Marketing, is responsible for working collaboratively with Experience Scottsdale’s internal and external partners to build marketing programs targeting leisure travelers, groups and the travel trade. This position supervises three members of the marketing team; develops innovative programming; manages the media agency and digital agency relationships; manages and oversees content strategy; and oversees grant application processes and reporting.

- Management: Supervise the marketing manager, social media manager, and multimedia/web developer. Act as the liaison to community partners and members and extend and/or create new partnerships and relationships to help drive business and maximize results for Scottsdale and Experience Scottsdale members.
- Marketing: Participate in the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives. Develop and implement marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions and other marketing projects. Develop innovative advertising, social media, and events programming. Work in collaboration with the company’s convention sales, communications, and tourism teams on brand initiatives.
- Media: Work with the VP of Marketing on the annual traditional and online media plan strategy, including managing the media agency and digital agency relationships. Drive process for SEO, SEM and paid social efforts. Review and edit all campaigns for appropriateness, messaging, and call to actions. On a monthly basis, track and measure traditional and digital media results. Manage the digital media budget.
- Content: Develop content strategy for all channels of content including online, social media, email, mobile, and video to ensure all traditional and online efforts lead to an engaging Scottsdale experience. Manage content calendar to ensure all content is on-brand; consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice; and optimized for search and user experience. Maintain standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing. Manage workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content. Provide SEO guidance for the local experts/writers’ program.
- Grants: Oversee all state marketing grant application processes, planning and reporting.

- Creative, detail-oriented, has a positive attitude, works well as part of a team, and has confidence to interact and communicate with Experience Scottsdale staff, members, and outside vendors.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required in a related field such as marketing, communications, or business administration. Minimum of 8 years of work experience, including traditional and digital marketing and supervisory experience. Experience in the hospitality industry preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising the marketing manager, social media manager, and multimedia/web developer.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a hybrid office/remote setting, but also requires active participation in outside meetings and destination activities. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position requires up to 5% travel.

Plus, we teach travel agents how to sell our destination to their clients and work to get Scottsdale information in brochures and promotions.
We are a 501(c)(6) nonprofit, private company that enhances the local community by promoting the Scottsdale area as a luxury destination for meetings, events and leisure travel. The organization has contracts with the city of Scottsdale and town of Paradise Valley to conduct destination marketing efforts on behalf of these municipalities. Experience Scottsdale has 37 full- and part-time employees, along with a volunteer board of directors composed of local hospitality/tourism and business industry leaders.
