Full-Time Behavioral Health Youth Specialist TCR

POSITION SUMMARY:

Seeking master’s level, full-time, behavioral health therapist to work with youth/young adult (ages 12-30) transgender and gender expansive clients at the Transgender Center of the Rockies on an individual and group basis addressing mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring health needs. Utilizing trauma-informed care to increase accessibility, community resources, and connection.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Treat all clients with dignity and respect.

· Provide mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, and assessments for gender affirming surgery using the WPATH standards of care; assess the need for on-going treatment or referral to other agencies.

· Conduct individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidenced based, culturally humble curriculum.

· Provide telehealth services to increase accessibility and outreach to clients across the state of CO

· Complete intakes during scheduled times as well as providing clinical support during drop-in hours

· Co-collaborate with the Team Lead for the NXT Queer Youth Program, expanding out mental health services, groups, and expansion of community engagement events

· Provide case management services to clients to assist in accessing community support services and culturally competent health care.

· Collaborate with the client to develop, implement, and revise individualized treatment plans and monitor treatment progress.

· Maintain accurate and timely clinical records consistent with OBH and Medicaid standards in all areas including, but not limited to: counselor admit notes, assessments, daily charting, weekly clinical staffing notes, discharge summaries, and progress reports for external referral sources.

· Participate in team/department meetings, in-services, and supervisory sessions as required.

· Collaborate with all clinical staff to ensure interdisciplinary care.

· Observe confidentiality requirements.

· Follow and uphold professional code of ethics and state laws governing mental health and substance use practice.

· Professionally represent the agency and program at resource fairs and Denver Pride Fest and other department programming.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Master’s Degree in social work or counseling. Behavioral Health licensure such as LPC, LSW, LCSW, or LAC. CAT/CAS Dual licensure preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years of experience in clinical outpatient work. Experience working with mental health and substance use clients highly desired. Strong understanding of Social Justice principles and intersectionality of health disparities in Behavioral Health. Experience working with marginalized communities particularly transgender and gender expansive folks.

SKILLS:

Knowledge of child development, ACEs, and utilization of Trauma Informed Care practices. Knowledge of psychotherapy methods. Knowledge of community resources. Ability to assess crisis situations and intervene appropriately. Familiarity with the DSM V and differential diagnostic techniques as well as relevant historical knowledge of past DSM’s. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work flexible and on-call hours which may be required. Knowledge of transgender and gender expansive needs and HIV stigma, sexual health education, and treatment as well as understanding cultural responsiveness. Decentering areas of privilege to remain client centered and addressing needs of priority populations.

Spanish speaking (preferred but not required)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with program supervision of students/volunteers as determined appropriate.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, calculators, fax machines, electronic health record, telephone and a variety of other office/clinical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending and reaching, ability to use office equipment.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS: Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate treatment plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must demonstrate cultural responsibility and be able to communicate effectively with them.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Occasional travel (within Denver Metro)

· Position will primarily work Monday through Friday with some evening and late night work

· Assist other team members in program execution

· Demonstrated ability to constructively work with persons in crisis situations

COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Behavioral Health Specialist will be working with the clinical team at our Transgender Center of the Rockies located at 3460 S Federal Blvd, Englewood, CO 80110. This is a full-time position (40 hours a week).

Pay: $48,000.00 – $56,000.00 per year
