Foster School of Business has an outstanding opportunity for an Assistant Director, Career and Employer Relations for the Product Management Center.

The Assistant Director’s work supports The Product Management Center’s goals to enrich the lives of diverse product managers, empower product managers to enrich the lives of diverse audiences, provide employers the most trusted source for diverse product management talent, and drive thought leadership in product management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role and responsibilities of the Assistant Director, Career and Employer Relations extend beyond the Foster School of Business. The success of The Product Management Center will depend on the Assistant Director’s ability to bring great product managers together with diverse aspiring product managers from all over the country. To make this work, the Assistant Director provides innovative career development services and activities for The Product Management Center with a primary focus on the Inclusive Product Management Accelerator (IPMA) program. The Assistant Director is responsible for development, planning, implementation, and management of career advising and programming to IPMA Fellows. To include one-on-one advising, weekly company office hours, bi-weekly career workshop series, and career activities such as resume reviews and mock interviews at scale to support a growing population of IPMA Fellows nearing 150 by April 2022 with growth expected to reach 300 by April 2023. This role will work closely with key stakeholders to include PM volunteers mostly from Fortune 500 companies, Steering Committee members, sponsor companies, and staff and faculty of the Foster School to include Assistant Deans and Center Directors. While keeping overall objectives in line with the Associate Director and Director for The Product Management Center.

Career Coaching and Career Resources

•     Develop and manage career programming, events, and resources dedicated to the success of all IPMA Fellows including alumni of the program and current cohort members.
•     Lead the programming and execution of support to IPMA Fellows which could range from office hours, one-to-one advising appointments, and workshops.
•     Manage and conduct feedback and tracking forms, surveys, and metrics, including closely following Fellow’s progress towards formal recognition, program completion, and their first product management role.
•     Develop and administer materials and resources for career coaching and programming, including manuals and recruitment briefs.

Program Management and Outreach

•     In relationship with the Director and Associate Director maintain employer relationships for IMPA Fellows making connections to volunteers when and where appropriate.
•     Develop events, workshops and professional programming with volunteers, mentors, steering committee members, industry leaders, and UW interdisciplinary faculty and staff to ensure the professional success of IPMA Fellows.
•     Assist in the development of events and activities, including outreach efforts, orientations, and graduations.
•     Develop and conduct career preparation workshops and events.
•     Evaluate, create, and possibly purchase career preparation resources.
•     Create career content and updates for IPMA communication channels.

Program activities and special projects

•     Assist in the overall strategy and evaluation of The Product Management Center.
•     Assume shared responsibility for assessing and modifying/updating website and social media content.
•     Assist with special projects and activities, including outreach efforts, Ask-me-Anything series, Inclusive Product Management Summit, and center initiatives.
•     Support The Product Management Center events and participate fully in a fast-moving team environment where everyone is expected to contribute whenever possible.
•     Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

•     Master’s degree and a minimum of 2-years’ experience in event and/or project management, career counseling, recruitment/HR, or related field.
•     The capacity to achieve superior results working independently and as a member of a creative team in high-pressure situations.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:

•     Demonstrated ability to meet unique needs of individuals from historically marginalized communities.
•     Demonstrated professionalism, tact, and maturity in handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
•     Prior career planning or related industry/business/college relations experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•     Flexibility to work evening and possibly weekend events and workshops.
•     Highly effective planning, scheduling, time management and follow through skills required to coordinate and implement special programs and events while providing service to both employers and IPMA Fellows.
•     Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
•     Strong interpersonal skills required.
•     High degree of comfort with technology and data.
