We are seeking an Environmental Engineer who will be a member of the Responsible Care® Environmental Team. This role will be responsible for coordination of environmental compliance with state and federal regulations and providing environmental support to the facility. This position will be focused on air regulatory compliance support and serve as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Air related matters. The individual will interface with a diverse group of customers including process and project engineering, operations, maintenance, plant management, corporate and outside regulatory agencies.

 

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

  • Determines the implications of legislative and regulatory changes and takes actions to address them
  • Interact with Leadership, operations and other plant personnel to ensure a consistent understanding of environmental regulatory requirements
  • Provide liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and for regulatory reporting
  • Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements, effectively identifying solutions when rule ambiguity exists
  • Identify and implement improvements to business processes, including RC 14001 management system programs to effectively manage and mitigate environmental risk
  • Develops and maintains environmental Air permits and compliance systems
  • Maintains ownership of site environmental programs, (e.g., permitting and compliance systems)
  • Represent the site in trade organizations and in best practice groups
  • Rotating on- call with Environmental team members and coordination of release reporting
  • Demonstrate an overall understanding of the production process in assigned areas
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to make improvements within their specific area of responsibility
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Demonstrate the ability to move a team to consensus on difficult issues and effectively deals with uncertainty

What We Are Looking For:

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors’ degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or other related degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant related experience. Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry is preferred.

In addition, the successful candidate will have:

  • A Professional Engineer designation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of air, waste and water Environmental compliance programs associated with the chemical manufacturing industry
  • Proven experience developing and/or managing environmental compliance systems
  • Ability to effectively use “role specific” software and effectively use standard company computer systems and programs
  • Strong problem solving and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Additional Information:

  • This position will be located at our Geismar, LA manufacturing site.
  • This position is not eligible for cross border relocation, but eligible for domestic relocation.
  • This position will require a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
