Salary

£19,460 per annum (plus benefits). Salary listed is pro rata. Internal candidates/existing Civil Servants should refer to the Further Information Leaflet for salary details.

Job description

Working for Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), you will be contributing to the development, monitoring and validation of demand and supply plans, policies and processes, helping to identify sub-optimal performance and assist with delivering corrective action and continuous improvement.

DE&S have an exciting opportunity to begin your career in a Supply Chain position within the Tornado Delivery Team. The 12 month Fixed Term Appointment is to assist and support Tornado Deactivation activities in readiness for the sale of surplus military equipment and inventory from the UK Armed Forces.

This Supply Chain Support role carries both responsibility and opportunity. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to develop their skills , working under the supervision of the SCM Leaders, within a fast-paced environment.

You will ensure that a high-quality service is delivered, and this will be demonstrated through your good eye for detail and your ability to collaborate with others to deliver a positive outcome.

Responsibilities

The role of Supply Chain Support involves a broad range of duties and the balancing of priorities.

The responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following –

• Assisting with the Tornado inventory, monitoring disposal activity and helping achieve in-year control totals.
• Aiding the monitoring, maintaining and reviewing of financial data and carrying out stock movement and inventory transactional data analysis.
• Helping review and reconcile Public Store Accounts and Assets in Industry returns.
• Escalating any complex issues to senior colleagues and suggest areas for improvement where necessary.
• Helping investigate , reconcile and adjust discrepancies between the various inventory management systems.

Be aware that DE&S HQ is based in Bristol and that occasional travel there, will likely be necessary for business purposes.

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Educated to Level 3 standard or equivalent (e.g. A Level, ONC or BTEC ) or have Supply Chain work experience.
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
• Good customer focus and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Demonstrable communication skills, both verbal and written.

It would benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Experience of stock accounting and disposal.
• Experience of working in an aerospace defence / military aircraft environment or equivalent.

About your team

The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis.
