As part of the Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering Team, the Instrument and Electrical Designer will support the sites in obtaining safety, environmental, production, reliability, productivity, and quality objectives providing design support for maintenance and capital activities.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:

• Align design functions to related plant processes: Technical/Engineering Workflow including Facility Change Management, Capital Project Support including Project Development and Implementation
• Prepares engineering packages for construction including scope of work, detailed drawings ensuring inherently safe design principles and data integrity are incorporated
• Interfaces with functional groups such as Operations, Maintenance, Technical and Engineering to produce detailed design work including
• Specifies and designs instrument equipment and systems including control valves, transmitters, and safety systems
• Collaborates with Centers of Excellence Instrument team to capture and apply learnings and enhance discipline capabilities

What We Are Looking For:

• Technical school diploma with 8+ years of related experience OR 10+ years combination of post secondary technical education and related experience OR 10+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing discipline or equivalent technology environment
• Minimum 2 years resident onsite experience in a petrochemical manufacturing facility
• Demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care®
• Working knowledge of Intergraph products (Intools and SmartPlant).  Micro Station experience would be an added benefit
• Knowledge of DCS and PLC systems
• Understanding of Safety Instrumented Systems
• Experience with communications networks
• Ability to work with limited supervision while managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic work environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Location:

The NOVA Chemicals Manufacturing East Sites are located near Sarnia, Ontario. The Sarnia Sites focus on the production of ethylene and polyethylene and is recognized as a cornerstone of Ontario’s petrochemical industry.

Sarnia is situated on the south shore of Lake Huron at the headwaters of the St. Clair River, and just an hour from Detroit, Michigan, United States.
