Part-Time Website Assistant/Intern

Job Description

The Website Assistant/Intern will provide essential technical support for QUBESHub users and cyberinfrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of website coding languages (particularly HTML and CSS) and experience learning new platforms or websites. Work is part-time, nonexempt, and remote with synchronous and asynchronous components, including scheduled and ad-hoc meetings via Zoom. Generally, this position is 5-10 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director and Director of Cyberinfrastructure, the Website Assistant/Intern contributes to various projects in the STEM education reform space. This role has growth opportunities, including website development, if interested and qualified. Position responsibilities for the Website Assistant/Intern role include:

  • QUBESHub platform technical support, including direct work with users
  • Creation, copying, and editing pages within the QUBESHub platform
  • Creation of template pages and groups in the QUBESHub platform
  • Based on qualification, assist on cyberinfrastructure projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent required; current college students are especially encouraged to apply
  • Use of a modern computer and stable high-speed internet connection required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Self-motivated, independent, proactive, flexible, and adaptable
  • General Knowledge of web markup including HTML, CSS, and other languages a plus

BioQUEST manages the QUBESHub platform, a social cyberinfrastructure that allows faculty around the globe to collaborate on STEM education reform projects, find, use, and share Open Educational Resources; and connect with like-minded individuals through a variety of professional development opportunities. This platform is based on HubZero but is highly specialized and run by our Director of Cyberinfrastructure.

Compensation

Hourly rate commensurate with experience, minimum $18/hour.
