The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is seeking a full-time Warehouse Assistant/Driver for their Lynchburg, VA branch warehouse.
Duties involve picking up and delivering food products and associated items to and from the warehouse, agencies, stores, events, and program sites, as well as receive and store food products, pack orders, unload deliveries, re-pack food products, operate warehouse equipment and general maintenance and clean-up. Drives non-CDL box truck for pick-up and delivery, conducts safety checks of vehicles, maintains clean vehicles, and locks down all products to ensure the safe transport of items. Inventories products and completes reports for processing in computer system.
Position Requirements:
- Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s license with a good driving record. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions, including heat and cold
- Minimum six months experience in a warehouse environment and operating warehouse equipment, including forklifts, stand-up rider, pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with a variety of volunteers and staff, as well organize and prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Good interpersonal and oral communication skills, basic math and computer skills, and ability to learn new data applications.
- Occasional evening availability
The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
