Position Summary
The Visiting Senior Research Specialist will assist with activities for funded translational research project in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), related to macrophage and endothelial cell pathology. Research areas in the laboratory include immunology, macrophage and T cell biology, and immunometabolism, inflammation and mechanism of bone erosion.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performing Western blotting, ELISA, PCR, qPCR, cell culture and maintaining animal colony. The position will also be involved in lab managerial tasks, which will require organization skills for ordering, managing mice colony, maintaining laboratory equipment, the inventory for laboratory supplies, and tracking and shipping biosamples for RNA sequencing.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. Master’s degree in science preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years related research experience.
- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
- Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science degree or higher, with a strong research background in cell biology and molecular biology.
- Proficient skills in western blotting, ELISA, PCR, qPCR, and cell culture is desirable.
- The ability to learn new research technologies, work independently and as part of a team is required, while knowledge of hematology and cell metabolism, statistics, bioinformatics and strong communication skills is advantageous.
