The role: The Vice President of Software Engineering will have the primary responsibility of ensuring that Groups360 products meet design specifications, resulting in a consistently positive user experience. This role demands previous experience in organizational leadership, the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, and a strategic mindset for problem-solving. Additionally, the Vice President of Software Engineering will lead a team of senior engineering leaders and must exhibit strong communication skills. Collaboration with product management team, shaping the Groups360 product vision, and upholding quality standards will also be integral aspects of this role.

What you will do:

  • Provide direct leadership over a team of senior engineering leaders.
  • Oversee all software development efforts and lead the technology team to position Groups360 for success.
  • Collaborate with the SVP, Technology and other stakeholders in creating and delivering on a clear, concise technical strategy and vision.
  • Responsible for the assessment of market trends, business strategy and technology gaps, and contributing to the continued development, maturation, orchestration of development controls and supporting processes necessary to successfully deliver code to production.
  • Responsible for hiring, developing, and retaining the best technical talent.
  • Engage in vendor negotiations and oversee the management of outsourcers and contractors to acquire IT infrastructure and application technology services. Ensure that all vendor contracts align with Groups360’s best interests and that suppliers fulfill their contractual obligations.
  • Partner with SVP, Technology to develop and review enterprise budget, ensuring compliance with department financial objectives.
  • Partner with Groups360 Product team and other customer-focused teams to plan, build and develop products that enhance Groups360’s products.
  • Develop, promote, and champion the technical vision, philosophy, policies, procedures, and best practices throughout the organization.
  • Lead collaboratively with technical leaders and delivery teams to keep product platform aligned and achieve focused business outcomes.
  • Foster an open, collaborative and supportive culture of empowerment across the Technology team.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience required.  MBA or other master’s level degree preferred.
  • 10 + years of software development experience.
  • 6 + years management experience with the proven ability to provide successful leadership over senior engineering staff.
  • Must be able to provide strong and capable leadership over senior engineeringstaff
  • Experience with onshore and offshore management
  • Should have a strong track record of developing and growing talent among people leaders and individual contributor team members.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while keeping the focus on promoting a supportive, healthy culture across several engineering teams.
  • Be comfortable rolling up your sleeves and the ability to dive into technical details that necessary to delivery feature development.
  • Have a strong aptitude for adopting and promoting the processes (e.g. Agile Framework, Release Management, Quality Assurance) utilize to successfully deliver code to production.
  • Demonstrate a history of ownership in personal, team and company objectives, and a track record of successful software deployments.
  • Experience with modern dynamic OO language.
  • Familiar with cloud security, OWASP Top 10.
  • Proficient in software design and developing customer-orientated platforms.
  • Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and change management.
  • Experience with staffing and team-building.
  • Previous ownership and management of an organizational budget.

  • Strong empathy for customers and a passion for revenue and growth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint.
  • Other qualifications as required.

Core Business Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F, Hybrid; these hours may vary depending upon your position and work requirements.

Status: Exempt

Location: Brentwood, TN. HYBRID (3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
