Full-Time Vector Purification and Formulation Lead
Job Description
To strengthen our Early Solutions and External Innovation team, based in our Boston Office in Bedford, MA, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Vector Purification and Formulation Lead.
As a Vector Purification and Formulation Lead you will support multiple therapeutic gene therapy programs by leading AAV vector purification and formulation for use in research and initial process development.
You will contribute by:
- Purification of viral vectors (AAV) – benchtop to 50L bioreactor scale
- Establish and optimize downstream processes for multiple programs
- Establish automation capability across entire gene therapy purification operations
- Responsible for purification schedule, filtration & chromatography unit operations
- Hands-on technical leadership and managerial responsibility for downstream and formulation research team
- Collaborate with upstream, analytics and vector biology teams within Gene Therapy Vector Core and Discovery, Tox and CMC teams within the greater organization
- Ability to function independently and cross functionally across various UCB teams (medicinal chemists, cell biologists, disease area exerts, antibody engineers, etc)
- Ability to manage priorities, and engage/communicate in a multidisciplinary environment

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D in a related science or field
- A minimum of 3 years of viral vector purification and formulation experience in industry
Preferred Qualifications:
- Biologics downstream process development and tech transfer experience in industry is a plus.
- IND and BLA filing experience for gene therapy applications is a plus.
