Summary
HMRC are introducing an undergraduate intern placement scheme starting in 2020. This placement will give you a true flavour of working in HMRC, and what will be in store for you should you join the organisation. You will learn “hands-on” skills that University can’t really teach. It is a fantastic learning opportunity for you.
You’ll work in a real working environment and have a role and responsibilities from day one. You’ll gain vital skills, behaviours and knowledge and have support throughout your placement from your manager and colleagues.

To be eligible for these placements you must:
• be studying towards an undergraduate degree and eligible for a ‘sandwich’ intern year or taking a gap year;
• be available to work in Nottingham or Liverpool throughout the whole period of the placement;
• be fluent in English;
Job description
HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) is responsible for the department’s Civil and Criminal investigations into the most serious fraud and wrongdoing. FIS ensures that HMRC has an effective approach to tackling the most serious tax evasion and fraud.
The Strategy Planning/Support team support operational activity through the management of performance, resource and funding data

Responsibilities
The role will involve assurance of the large data sets managed by the team, identifying emerging risks and analysing variations for the monthly reports to senior leaders. The role includes a project to identify opportunities to enhance existing data reporting processes and design and deliver the changes to the team.
What are we looking for?
The role requires excellent IT skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage proactively and effectively with stakeholders at all levels. The working environment can be fast paced so the individual will need to be able to act collaboratively, be enthusiastic and eager to learn.
