Freelance Trustee
Job Description
Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education, is seeking new Trustees to join our Board.
The Board, which currently has 10 members, holds four full on-line meetings a year, an in-person
away day and interim on-line optional special interest groups.
Engage is committed to building a Board that reflects the full diversity of the UK population, including a
wide range of lived experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. This commitment is central to our
mission of ensuring that everyone—regardless of identity or circumstance—has equitable opportunities
to engage with visual arts. A representative Board helps us better understand and respond to the needs
of the communities we serve, strengthens our decision-making, and supports our goal of fostering
inclusive participation across the sector.
- Engage welcomes applications from individuals with an interest in engagement and participation
in the visual arts. - We are seeking a broad range of skills and experiences to strengthen our Board, including—but
not limited to—expertise in digital tools, communications, finance, fundraising, the corporate
sector, charity governance, visual arts education (formal and informal) and membership
organisations. - We also encourage applications from practicing artists and those with lived experience that can
help shape inclusive and responsive strategies for our sector. - Engage is a national organisation with Trustees from across England, Ireland, Scotland and
Wales and we seek to increase our trustee pool outside of London and the South East with
Board members from across the UK and beyond.
