Full-Time Transportation Worker II – Bridge Maintenance
Job Description
- Perform manual and equipment operational work in the maintenance and replacement of bridges, pipes, and reinforced concrete box culverts.
- Use a wide variety of skills including pile driving, carpentry, concrete work, machine operation, contract inspections, repairs of culverts, bridges, large pipe bulkheads, and pipe clusters, sandblasting & painting, demolition work, trenching and shoring, lead paint removal, steel fabrication, and straightening of steel beams.
- Operate equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain work records.
- Perform manual labor tasks for extended time.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Operate a State vehicle.
- Pipe installation and installation of erosion control devices experience.
- Experience in the layout of traffic control in work zones.
- Working knowledge of standard bridge maintenance and construction procedures.
- Experience in 1+ of the following: shoulder and ditch maintenance, pipe installation, asphalt patching, or snow and ice removal.
- Experience in Intermediate Work Zone Safety Traffic Control.
- Ability to work effectively in extreme weather and terrain conditions.
- Ability to work in close proximity of high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
- A Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Note: If you don’t have this, we can give you 60 days from hire to obtain your Class A CDL Permit and 90 days from hire to obtain a Class A CDL Driver’s License with Tanker (N) endorsement.)
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug test and a background check of your previous employers for the past 2 years for drug/alcohol abuse. We will also conduct a criminal background check.
- Safety toe shoes required.
- High school/GED diploma, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
