Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) is seeking to expand its list of on-call interpreters and translators to support our legal teams and better serve the diverse communities of Greater Boston. We are especially in need of professionals who are available for in-person interpretation services.
Languages of Need:
Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Haitian Creole, Simplified Chinese, Amharic, Arabic, Moroccan Arabic, Khmer, Cantonese, Mandarin, Toisanese, Vietnamese, French, Dari, Pashto, Fulani, Luganda, and Spanish.
Other languages are welcome to apply!
Work Type:
- In-person interpretation (on-call)
- Written document translation (as needed)
- Paid by invoice
Standard Rates:
- $50/hour for in-person interpretation
- $55/hour for written translation
Certified Interpreter Rates:
Interpreters with qualifying credentials are eligible for increased pay:
- $65/hour for certified in-person interpretation
- $70/hour for certified written translation
To qualify, provide:
- A certificate from an accredited academic institution, or
- Proof of court certification
Note: Certifications from private language businesses or corporations do not qualify.

- Any training you have completed related to interpretation or translation
- A copy of your qualifying certificate (if applicable)
