Trades Inspector I, II or Sr. (Electrical)

The Electrical Trades Inspector for the City of Greensboro’s Engineering and Inspections Department plays a vital role in safeguarding public safety by ensuring that residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations comply with N.C. State Building Codes and City Ordinances. This position conducts field inspections of wiring, equipment, and electrical systems, performs plan reviews, investigates complaints, and communicates findings through detailed reports and verbal guidance. The role involves maintaining OSHA safety compliance while working in varied and sometimes challenging environments, including outdoor conditions, confined spaces, heights, and areas with electrical hazards. Physical activity such as walking, bending, climbing, and accessing rooftops or attics is required. Candidates may be hired as Trades Inspector I, II, or Senior based on qualifications, and must obtain Mechanical Standard Level I and Plumbing Standard Level I certifications within two years of hire.
